WE OFFER digital mammography for breast screening & diagnostics at our Porterville IMAGING center.
How Often Should You Get A Mammogram?
The American Cancer Society recommends an annual mammogram for all women age 40 and older. This routine screening mammogram takes approximately 15 minutes to perform.
Why Choose CMI?
CMI technology partnered with radiologists specialized in mammography interpretation and a caring technologist attuned to varying degrees of female sensitivity provides the ideal medical home for your annual screening or diagnostic mammogram.
CMI encourages women to receive their annual screening mammogram through our routine reminder system complaint with the Physician Quality Review Standards.
Breast Abnormalities Needing Medical Attention
You should be evaluated by your primary doctor and may be referred for a diagnostic mammogram, ultrasound, MRI, and/or molecular imaging
if you have localized breast pain or a palpable abnormality such as:
- A lump
- Nipple discharge
- New skin or nipple changes
- Any other notable changes in your breasts
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR MAMAMMOGRAMS
During your mammogram, our facility will provide you with a wrap to wear for your comfort. A technologist will carefully position your breasts for the imaging process, and only you and the technologist will be in the room. The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes in total. For each image, a plastic upper plate will gently compress your breast for a few seconds to capture a clear picture. While the compression is brief, you may experience some discomfort—please let the technologist know if it becomes painful so they can make adjustments to ensure your comfort.
